Ventless Washer Dryer Combos are amazing!

April 30, 2012

We wanted to make sure that each unit in our income property had its own washer and dryer. Initially we thought to get “Stack-able units,” but the cons for those were that they took up airspace that we didn’t want to lose in the property’s small kitchens.

After some research, my wife came up with the idea of buying an all-in-one washer and dryer. I had heard that all-in-one units are pretty popular in Europe, but had never seen one in person. I watched a short video about how the combo units worked, and immediately was sold!

We settled on an;” target=”_blank”>;LG Ventless Washer/ Dryer combo unit.

There were a ton of pro’s to using this unit:

– Uses much less water and electricity than traditional washers and dryers.

– Less wear and tear on clothes per cycle

– No need to switch clothes between wash and dry cycles, just set it and forget it

– The surface on top of the washer can be utilized as additional counter space in our smaller kitchens (we placed Granite on top of the unit).

– The unit uses a standard 3 prong electrical outlet (instead of a 220 line like most others)

– The unit is ventless! There was no need to drill an additional hole in the side of the house to vent the dryer.

The only con we’ve found to using the unit was a longer cycle time than individual washers and dryers. A load of clothes in the LG unit can take anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours from start to finish. We have one of these units in our own home, and turn this disadvantage to an advantage by putting loads to wash before bed or before we leave to work. By the time we get home or wake up, the loads are clean, dry and ready to be folded!

In my opinion, the pros of using an all-in-one unit FAR outweigh the cons. Of you have limited space, try one out! You won’t be disappointed!
